They were given a scare by Sungate, and could have been out of the game in the first half, but dug deep to edge ahead, eventually earning a 2-2 draw. After wasting several early chances Sungate went ahead with Hamlets keeper Pyne caught out by a shot that went in off the bar. Hamlets battled their way back and got lucky with their 29th minute equaliser. Foster ran down the right and crossed for Morris whose firsttime shot took a deflection, giving the keeper no chance. With 26 minutes to go, a long goal kick from keeper Pyne got the faintest of touches from With and Foster slotted home. The equaliser came when a Sungate cross floated over everyone and into the net. Eight for New Ward THERE were some big scores in the East London Sunday League, topped by Division One side New Ward Virtue. They chalked up an amazing eight-goal victory over Young Prince. After weeks without being able to field a team, the thirds got their first game of the season off to a fantastic start . Runwell only turned up with 12 players so Millwall loaned them a few to make up the numbers. One, Raj Nayyar, even scored a try against his own team. Darryl Gera touched down four times bringing his Millwall tally to 50 tries, and set up several others. A brilliant solo try from Nigel Webb was also his 50th score for the club. In the Joshila Sports Division Two, Castrillon went top with a 5-2 victory over Pedro. Two apiece from Marsdon and Sammut plus one from Kennedy clinched it while Bruce scored a brace for Pedro. Ainslie Wood lost out to FC Romania 4-2, Husbands getting both goals for the losers. Mabley beat Wimbledon Park 4-2 thanks to Dikgale’s hat-trick and a strike from Small. Moussa and Marriano replied for Park. Tigers are roaring LONDON Tigers Veterans lifted the Inner London Football League Veterans Cup after a memorable clash with Bromley Legends. The teams were all square at 1-1 at the end of the first half. However, Tigers broke down Bromley’s resistance in the second period to win 4-1. In the ILFL Sunday league Premier Division front runners London Tigers and Stepney fought out a 2-2 draw. The result allowed Bromley and West End to leapfrog them into first and second place respectively. First Division table-toppers Reachout and SCTA crawled away from the chasing pack and maintained 100 per cent records. Second Division leaders Robin Hood Tigers maintained their 100 per cent start and built a five-point cushion as they beat Tower Hamlets B 2-0. Alam late strike IT was a night of the golden oldies when the Legends of Bangladesh came to Mile End Stadium. JIM Fitzpatrick, MP for Poplar and Limehouse, opened Tower Hamlets College’s new 3G football pitches at its campus in Poplar High Street… and then took part in a minisoccer tournament. The pitches will be available all year round to students and the community in Poplar and Canary Wharf. To celebrate the opening of the pitches, Mr Fitzpatrick joined students in a football tournament involving 16 teams, including three allgirls sides.
