For your information Parking to pest control, housing to hate crime turn to pages 14 & 15 Useful information Younger voices, and giant germs News from disability organisation Real EVERY month more and more Tower Hamlets disabled and older people are joining the Local Voices network. The more we grow the more we can do together and speak out on issues of concern or interest to us. Last year we produced a report which prioritised the things local disabled people were concerned about and their recommendations for action. You can download it from Real’s website at www.real.org.uk/localvoices But we didn’t hear as much as we’d like from younger disabled people. So we are running a new online survey to make sure we hear these voices too. This is your opportunity to talk about the issues that matter to younger disabled people in Tower Hamlets. The survey is aimed at people in school or aged up to 25 who are disabled or have a long-term health condition and who live, work, volunteer or study in Tower Hamlets. It should take ten to 15 min - utes and you can access it via the front page of the Real website or by typing the following address into your browser: www.surveymonkey.com/r/ Young LocalVoices Please bring this to the attention of any young disabled people you know. The survey will close at midnight on Monday, October 27. We promise to write back to all participants. Join Local Voices To have your say on current developments affecting disabled people, now or in the future, the best way is to join the Local Voices network. It’s free to join. And you can do as little or as much as you want, or feel you can. Once you’re a network member we will then let you know directly what’s coming up, so you won’t miss out. We are also looking for new people to join the steering committee, who play an active role in leading the project. It’s a great way to meet new people and we can also help you develop new skills. We will be running an open meeting in November, so you can meet existing steering group members and find out if it’s something for you.
