They faced fourth-placed Hullbridge twice in a week, conceding nine goals, scoring five and a player from each side getting the red card. Having lost the away game 7-1, Bengal hosted their Essex Senior League rivals at Mile End Stadium over Easter and looked a different team. Although rooted to the bottom of the table, Bengal showed plenty of fight in front of their own fans to win 4-2. Bengal’s scorers were Carlos, Abdisamad, Hutchins and Rivera while Hulbridge were kept in the game by two goals from Hornsley, although they didn’t help their cause by giving away a penalty and having a player sent off. The mid-week 7-1 defeat saw Bengal start with only nine players due to traffic problems. Within 55 seconds of the kickoff, the numerical advantage was made to count as Hornsley put Hullbridge ahead. Bengal were up to their full quota of players before the 15-minute mark, but by then Hornsley had struck again and Jamie Buffin had joined him on the score sheet. Hornsley completed his hat-trick on 26 minutes and Hullbridge continued to dominate, ending the half 4-0 up. A defensive error on the hour allowed Bengal to reduce the deficit before Hornsley picked up his fourth on 62 minutes. After 72 minutes Bengal compounded their problems when a man was sent off. Charlie Little got on the score sheet minutes later and Buffin added his second in the 78th minute. FC Hamlets POAPC 0 Kelvedon Hatch 2 WITH the Olympian League title in the balance, Hamlets were hoping the players would get a confidence boost by booking a place in the semi-finals of the Senior Division Cup. But this quarter-final went horribly wrong. After just five minutes Michael Daniels gave Kelvedon the lead. Seven minutes later James Burt made it 2-0. Hamlets still lead Division Three of the Essex Olympian League, but Catholic United are just one point behind in second place with a game in hand. THE Inner London Football League hosted its Unity Super Cup and Legends Cup semi-finals and finals – and two local favourites saw their dreams crash.
