Attractions include archery, face painting, cake and other food stalls, and a tombola. Entry is free. Bouncy castle fun STALLS, music, face painting, a bouncy castle and much more are on offer at Harry Gosling Primary School summer fete on Thursday, June 26. The fun starts at 2pm – the school is in Fairclough Street, E1. Punch and Judy OUR Lady’s School in Copenhagen Place, Limehouse is hosting a summer fair on Friday, July 11 at 2pm. The event will feature stalls, games, Punch and Judy shows and competitions. Students in World Cup party BY JESSICA ODUBAYO SIXTH form students at Phoenix School in Bow celebrated the end of an employability skills programme with a World Cup party. Ten young people with special educational needs linked to autism, took part in three employability skills workshops. Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership delivered the sessions, which focused on first impressions, meeting new people, body language, teamwork and communication. The group produced a recipe book featuring dishes from some of the countries taking part in the World Cup and sampled food from different nations at the party. Working in three Phoenix head teacher Stewart Harris testing out Team Spain’s balloon sofa teams, each representing a World Cup country, students had to make a sofa out of balloons. “Teamwork is about working together,” explained student Imran Hassan, a member of Team England. Phoenix head teacher Stewart Harris entered into the spirit of the occasion by testing out each sofa while blowing a horn. He declared the Spanish team as having made the most robust piece of furniture. Student Khadiza Begum, 17, is spending a day a week over two months at the partnership on work experience. He has been helping with office duties and said: “One day, I hope to be a cartoonist.” Imdadur Rahman, project manager for employability and enterprise at Tower Hamlets EBP, said: “This is the third year in a row that we have delivered employability skills training and, each year, the number of students taking part has grown. “We believe it is important to equip young people with special needs with the appropriate skills for securing meaningful employment and to make informed decisions in their adult lives.” Learning to take the lead from the USA and asked to meet the pupils. THIRTY pupils from Bishop Challoner Catholic Collegiate School learnt leadership lessons at a workshop hosted by an insurance firm. The event, organised by Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership, formed part of insurance broker Aon’s global services day for which employees across the world volunteer. A dozen members of staff from the office near Liverpool Street elected to help guide the 14- and 15-year-olds through a series of leadership sessions.
