Sculpt fest down at the Wharf The London Ice Sculpting Festival returns – competition winners will be decided by a panel of art experts and the public can vote for their favourite Big Block sculpture. THE London Ice Sculpting Festival returns this month to add a little sparkle amid the early-January gloom. Teams and individuals wielding chisels and chainsaws will battle it out against each other – and the clock – to carve the ultimate icy creation, inspired by this year’s themes of Fabulous Fashion and River Life. Professionals will be carving pieces from blocks of ice up to two metres tall and giving free master classes, using mini blocks, to adults and children aged 12 and over. A winter food market will accompany the festival and wind-sensitive LED Christmas lights will be on show. It runs from Friday to Sunday, January 10-12, starting at 12noon (10am on Saturday). Events are free but on a first come, first served basis so check online for a full line-up and show times. Go along to Wood Wharf, 100 Preston’s Road, E14.
