If you are claiming benefits, you may be affected. Households who are not in work or have less than 24 hours work per week will be affected most. The impact of these changes could be serious and some households may no longer be able to afford their current housing costs. Tower Hamlets Council and its partners are helping prepare residents for the Government changes. You can also call our benefits advice line on Council services get a top rating THE council’s high quality services, which continue to meet the needs of people from all backgrounds, have won it an ‘excellent’ rating in a national assessment – the highest award available. Tower Hamlets is the first council in the UK to be re-assessed against the Local Government Association’s equality framework for local government (EFLG). The team of assessors found the council had a boroughwide approach to championing equalities and a united vision of how equality should be included in the delivery of its services. The council’s leaders, politicians, partners and third sector organisations were all part of the assessment.
