The impact of these changes could be serious and some households may no longer be able to afford their current housing costs. Tower Hamlets Council and its partners are helping prepare residents for the Government changes. Traffic light work starts WORK is under way to replace the traffic lights at the junction of A1203 The Highway with Butcher Row and the Limehouse Link Tunnel. The work will be taking place on both the pavement and carriageway. To ensure the safety of road users and those carrying out the works, there will be night-time road closures and lane closures while the work is carried out. Phasing of the works are planned to coincide with the planned maintenance closures of the Limehouse Link tunnel for carriageway surfacing. The works on the traffic lights, by Transport for London (TfL) contractors, began on Monday, June 16 for seven weeks, or until the work is completed, depending on the weather. The working hours will be from 8am-6pm, Monday to Saturday, for footway works and 8pm-5am, Monday to Friday, for carriageway works. The council has insisted that all noisy works will end at midnight; however vehicle reversing beacons may still be heard beyond this time.
