A COMMUNITY barbecue on an Isle of Dogs estate gave residents a chance to have fun and hear about the continuing regeneration of their estate. Part-funded by the mayor of London, work on the New Union Wharf estate began last year with the demolition of Heron Court. The scheme will see the existing 189 homes replaced with 399 new residences. The first homes are due to be completed in summer 2015. At the get-together on August 7, estate residents soaked up the sun on the River Thames frontage, while taking the opportunity to get the latest information on the regeneration and choose their kitchen units and floor fittings. Neil Baron, East Thames’ housing’s head of regeneration for New Union Wharf, said: “This is a really good way for us to meet up with the residents in an informal setting giving us the opportunity to fully connect and inform them of the progress on the regeneration. “With construction happening around the estate, it’s important that we continue to provide opportunities for the community spirit to continue.” At the moment, we have a fantasc offer available to property owners, should you decide to instruct Metropolitan and Crown to sell your property within 5 working days aer your free inial valuaon, you will be eligible for our promoonal 1% (reduced from 1.75%) sales fee.
