AFFORDABLE RENT PROPERTIES Changes to Government policy mean that Housing Associations have been forced to charge higher rents on some properties. In addition not all tenancies will be tenancies for life. Please note the rent level and length of tenancy offered on the following homes. TMO’s Tenant Management Organisations Tenant Management Organisations (TMOs) are formed when tenants decide they want to take over the management of their homes. TMOs usually take the form of either a Tenant Management Co-operative (TMC) or an Estate Management Board (EMB). When a TMO take over the management of an estate the Council still owns the homes and the tenants keep the same rights as other Council tenants. Should you move to a property managed by a Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) you may be expected to contribute to the day to day running of the block & estate. TMO responsibilities can vary, but may include: • organising repairs • deciding on caretaking and estate cleaning priorities Please be aware of • collecting rent and managing arrears this when bidding • employing and managing staff and contractors for a Tenant • looking after public gardens and other shared areas Management • controlling any estate improvements Organisation • providing advice and support to tenants.
