The exhibition is inspired by Baldwin’s one-man journey to Iceland in a boat he built and features footage captured during the voyage. Trinity Buoy Wharf is at 64 Orchard Place. The club is run by a collective of people with and without learning disabilities. As well as DJs, there will be live performances from Gospel singer Patricia Burrowes and The Masters Blue Brother tribute band. The club is at the Backyard Bar, 231 Cambridge Heath Road. People and places at Oxford House LAST week saw the opening of a new exhibition at Oxford House Gallery featuring ten international photographers examining the relationship between people and the landscape. Of People and Places explores the impact society has on the land it inhabits and equally how the physical environments shape the communities who live there. The exhibition features images from the Alaskan Tundra, suburban Italy and the woodlands of south west England. Oxford House Gallery is at Derbyshire Street in Bethnal Green. Now in its 39th year, highlights include vocal group Stile Antico, the London premiere of Emily Hall’s Folie à Deux from Mahogany Opera Group and performances in Spitalfields Huguenot houses and the Tower of London. Associate artists Emily Hall, La Nuova Musica and Shabaka Hutchings will also be curating events throughout the festival which runs from June 2-16. Sherlock meets Balkan brass for museum fun New music at the Oval OVAL Space in Bethnal Green has announced a new live music series to bring international acts that rarely play in London to a wider audience. Ovation launches on February 12 and opens with renowned Los Angeles producer TOKi- MONSTA. Her real name is Jennifer Lee and she is known for creating vast soundscapes by combining live instruments, percussion, digital manipulation and vinyl – and this will be her first live London show in five years. She is joined in the line-up by the masked and anonymous producer Slow Magic, playing songs from his debut album, How To Run Away, and London artist Et Aliae who is frequently featured on lists of Ones to Watch in 2015. The list includes plans for a Valentine’s celebration on February 13 and continuing the exhibition of fictional London sleuth Sherlock Holmes. There are also further events at the Museum of London Docklands near West India Quay. The popular Sherlock Holmes exhibit, open until April 12, allows visitors to explore the roots of Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective. The museum uses film, photography and paintings plus original Victorian era artefacts to recreate the atmosphere of Sherlock’s London and to re-imagine the places featured in his most famous stories. The day before Valentine’s Day, the museum opens for Late London and, in honour of Holmes, is embracing the capital’s bohemian soul. As well as workshops, presentations and art installations, there will be a performance by the Trans-Siberian Marching Band. The 13-piece Balkan brass troupe are known for their high-energy style and Children enjoy a sleepover at the Museum of London Docklands will be accompanied by circus performers. The Museum of London Docklands, off Hertsmere Road, is running free family events for half-term from February 15-21 including storytelling, workshops and art drop-in sessions. There is also a ghost tour on the docks for adults every Tuesday night from 6.30pm which runs until March 24 The Museum of London is located at 150 London Wall, EC2Y. The exhibition will display contemporary photographers showing new techniques and styles in the ever developing format. The show will feature diverse influences and subjects with many unseen artworks on display for the first time in the UK. Among the featured artists are Andrea Torres, who explores the symbolism of femininity, and Natalia Natkin, who examines the commercialisation of beauty and art.
