If you are claiming benefits, you may be affected. Households who are not in work or have less than 24 hours work per week will be affected most. The impact of these changes could be serious and some households may no longer be able to afford their current housing costs. Tower Hamlets Council and its partners are helping prepare residents for the Government changes. You can also call our benefits advice line on Volunteers with their certificates at the Island House event We mapped the best of the borough VOLUNTEERS have helped create a map showing the borough’s most-valued community assets. The council recruited 28 people to find out the views of people in each electoral ward. A range of organisations, including community centre Island House, Shortwork, the council’s Idea Stores and Walled City, collaborated on the project. And last month the volunteers were thanked for their hard work and given certificates at a celebration event held at Island House, Isle of Dogs. The fruits of their labours have been collated on a virtual map, linked to the community directory developed and hosted by the Idea Stores. The council funded the work under its healthy environment and communities programme.
