That’s when he takes a step towards a genuine world title when he fights Mexican Daniel Estrada for the WBC Silver Lightweight title at The O2 Arena. Mitchell returns to action for the first time since his 11th round stoppage win over Ghislain Maduma at Wembley Stadium last May and he hopes another win over 32-fight veteran Estrada will land him a crack at one of the world titles. FORMER Repton amateur Frank Buglioni won the vacant WBO European supermiddleweight title with a unanimous points victory over Andrew Robinson at the ExCel centre. Buglioni had Robinson down for the count in the seventh round, but showed signs that his defence needs tightening up as he took punches that against a bigger hitter than Robinson might have been disastrous. Youthful exuberance pays off for Wapping BY PETER FAULKNER WAPPING Hockey Club, with several players unavailable, fielded a youthful side away at Felixstowe. Their defensive axis of Felix Styles and Kieran Morris, and goalkeeper Joe Trickett, had an average age of just 22. But despite their relative youth, the three have plenty of experience and played assertively throughout. From the off, Felixstowe attempted to press aggressively and high up the pitch, a tactic which opened up the game and played into Wapping’s hands. Within a few minutes, a slick passing move through the heart of the Felixstowe defence saw James Fanger draw the goalkeeper and slide a pass to Rory Rory Heaslip was on the scoresheet for Wapping Heaslip, who had the easy task of tapping into the unguarded goal. Wapping continued to pile forward and found themselves 3-0 up inside ten minutes after two powerful drag flicks from Felix Styles from short corners. It was at this stage, with Wapping looking rampant and in complete control, that Felixstowe re-grouped and changed tactics after a stoppage in play to allow their goalkeeper to fix his equipment. At half time the score remained 3-0 and the message from Wapping coach Ryan D’Souza was for his team to maintain concentration and to value possession. Wapping dominated possession in the second half and coasted but didn’t create many clear-cut opportunities, while Felixstowe defended manfully but offered little as an attacking threat. A fourth goal eventually arrive with Styles, playing in his more accustomed centre back role rather than in forward positions as he has recently, completing his hat-trick with another drag flick to cement his Man of the Match award. With almost the final touch of the game, Felixstowe managed a consolation goal from a counter attack. However, Wapping took the points and their fourth win in a row. East make light of Cook departure Hockey Broxbourne 1st 0 East London mens 1st 5 IN their first game since James Cook emigrated, East London proved they can succeed without him. They comfortably made it five games unbeaten, chalking up a third successive clean sheet and moving behind rivals Wapping in the promotion chase. Sam Boddington put them ahead with a beautiful drag flick. Within a minute Adam Lord doubled the lead then added a third just before half time. With ten minutes to play Boddington added a second drag flick, before goals from David Polley and Joe Green were disallowed. Broxbourne went down to nine men and Lewis Lawrence took full advantage to heap further misery on the home side. Old De Ferriers 1 East London Ladies 2nd 2 East travelled to Essex to take on the once mighty ODF, but made a sluggish start to the first half. A fine Kate Hendry goal gave them the lead, but it wasn’t until the second half that the action hotted up. A cracking goal from Catherine Weber after a great pass by player-of-the-match Anna Ormrod doubled the lead, before ODF scored during a late rally. It was a good send-off for Laura Wilkins whjo played her last match for the team.
