Healthy way to prevent cancer World Cancer Research Fund is dedicated to the prevention of cancer through the promotion of healthy diet and nutrition, physical activity and weight management. Eating out, eating in Feline hungry? Dinah’s is the cat’s whiskers BY GORDON BLUE AS my w i s e e d i t o r pointed out, cats and dining don’t necessarily go together. However the bright young things at Lady Dinah’s have got it licked (no more I promise). The setting is Shoreditch and the concept is genius, inspired by far eastern nations – a café that revolves around our feline friends rather than around us. It’s a bang-up-to-date concept for rescue centres, marrying excellence in animal welfare with, I’m relieved to say, catering. I was happily surprised with my luscious latte and my smoked salmon cream cheese bagel, jollied along with a welldressed salad incorporating pumpkin and sunflower seeds. The service was speedy and friendly and I couldn’t think of anywhere I’d rather be on a dreary Friday morning at 9am (that’s the popularity of this place, even booking weeks in advance) than among purring pussies and tiny kittens. Just when that couldn’t sound cuter, try twin Lady Dinah’s combines food and felines baby kittens. You know when something is so cute your heart can’t bear it and you have to look away to recover? Well, that happened on numerous occasions. There’s something so joyful about the concept, the creativity and excellence with which it is executed, I’d defy the stoniest of hearts not to feel lifted. There’s a charge of a fiver each to help support the cats’ care and the food is slightly on the pricey side. But it’s all for a good cause and, because of the quality, feels fair. Customers were visibly cheered by cats and kittens playing and you’re encouraged to join in with provision of toys and games. It’s child friendly too and a great way for a family to while away a couple of hours. www.wcrf-uk.org Two ate a solid brunch, washed down with lattes and juice, for just over £30 in total. When it comes to innovative business and fusing café culture with animal welfare, Lady Dinah’s really is the cat’s whiskers (sorry).
