Chaya, community support officer Paul Eaketts and Ethan Sydney and Courtney Centre is streets ahead when it comes to fun and games AROUND Poplar Children’s Centre held its annual street party with lots of fun activities for the children and surrounding community. The centre in Three Colt Street, Poplar threw open its doors for its third year of celebrations, organised by the council with the Parent Forum. Children had their faces painted, jumped around on a bouncy castle and played outdoor games while toddlers got stuck into the creative zones with colourful paints and Plasticine. A number of organisations were on hand throughout the day to provide advice, including London Fire Brigade whose fire engine proved popular among the youngsters while parents got tips on staying safe at home. Mayor Lutfur Rahman said: “I’m pleased that we have once again been able to welcome families to join us at our annual street party. “Events such as this are a great way of bringing our community together and showcasing some of the fantastic work taking place Zara and Shani make a big splash with the coloured paints inside our children’s centres.” Residents found out about courses and services available at the borough’s Idea Stores and libraries. The Parent Forum provided free healthy snacks and health trainers gave advice on how to make a healthy meal. Local resident Jelena Samsonova said: “This is a great event for the whole family.
